As you know, Funk is a music genre that originated in the mid- to late 1960s when African American musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blues.

Today, we want to share with you a 5 amazing funk music bands that you must listen to! These bands share their music using the Creative Commons license.

  1. Moe Shop

    Moe Shop gives a certain spin to the Future Funk world. It has a very energetic vibe, leaning towards the Future side of the genre. It almost has sounds similar to J-Pop, but those kicks and snares are still laid over funk samples that will make you dance like you’re in an animated music video.

  2. Lawrence

    Lawrence is an eight-piece soul powerhouse from New York City. Led by the talented sibling vocal duo Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence, produced by Grammy Award winning producer Eric Kranso, and influenced by old school and new school giants, Lawrence presents a beautiful LP of dynamic vocals, powerful horns, and soulful grooves. As their first and maybe most important album, they’ve rightfully called this releaseBreakfast. We’ve found a sampling of some of the delicious tracks on the album.
