FrostWire “Alexandria” (5.2.x series) is now available
The FrostWire 5.2.x series focus on better media management and a more integrated user experience.
We’ve redesigned our audio player and we’ve re-written the “Library” Tab to better suit your media management needs.
New Audio Player Controls
Everything revolves around the idea of organizing content on playlists. As 5.2.x evolves, we’ll be adding integration between FrostWire for Android and the playlists on your desktops to help you synchronize data between your Android and your computer in an easy manner. The new audio player has .flac support.
The new Library
The majority of the work of this series has gone into a brand new Library tab.
The goal of the new library for our team, is to create a media manager that fixes all of the things that are wrong with what’s out there at the moment. It’ll be a long time before we achieve this goal, but we think we have a great start with this version.
Among the things you’ll be able to do already with the FrostWire Library that you cannot with one of the most popular media players:
* Import .flac files into a playlist.
* Easy playlist cleanups. Sometimes files are deleted from disk, you can clean the removed files from your playlists in just one click.
* Share audio files (on social networks) or create torrents of these files right out of the playlist.
Now you will be able to easily search through your finished downloads, filter them by file type, and create playlists (audio playlists only supported at this point).
You will also be able to “Star” your favorite audio files and they will all go to a playlist that contains all the audio files you’ve starred.
Here’s a before and after of the Library (click the image to enlarge)
Integration between transfers, Library and iTunes
If a completed transfer contains audio files, you can create or add the audio files contained in it to a playlist (new or existing).
If you prefer to use iTunes you can send the songs manually. We’ve turned off by default automatic exporting of the finished audio downloads to iTunes.
Changelog
Here’s a list of all the enhancements and fixes since FrostWire 5.1.5 in case you want to know in detail everything that got fixed.

Cool
i downloaded 5.2.3 and deleted my old 4.x version, but when I download a torrent, my old 4.x still comes up even though i uninstalled it….any advice?
As for 4.x, per community request, FrostWire 5 doesn’t uninstall it (they can live side by side on your computer).
If you don’t want it to be the default torrent client, I suggest you uninstall it and re-install FrostWire 5, when you start it again it should ask you about being the default torrent client.
Also please install FrostWire 5.2.5 (Release Candidate) it’s a lot better than 5.2.3
Here are the installers from the official mirrors
Windows: http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5-beta/frostwire-5.2.5.windows.exe
Mac: http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5-beta/frostwire-5.2.5.dmg
Ubuntu: http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/5-beta/frostwire-5.2.5.all.deb
i download the frostwire 5.2.3, but i have a problem downloading an album. its not loading. do i have to fix something?

I’ve downloaded the current version but it won’t open, I’m only getting a quick pop up of its loading screen. Can anyone help please?
I just uninstalled the old version just downloaded the lates version today!! i am so confused in how to use it since the old version when i downloaded a song it would be saved in the documents/frostwire/saved files now it downloads as a torrent and when i go to launch/play the song it plays on my windows player instead of the frostwire!!! HELP!!!
I just installed the new version today also! Where is the “What’s new button?
Thanks for bringing that up, it’s been removed, but if enough people ask for it, we’ll figure out a way on how to bring it back.
In the meantime, if you have an idea of what you’re looking for you can sort your search results by date (descending) and you’ll know what’s new on those results.
If you don’t have an idea of what you’re looking for, but at least you know the file extension of what you want to search for you can always search for the file extension and sort by date.
hope this helps for now.
Please tell me how I can get the wwwlimewirelaw off my frostwire? I would like to get back to my music, but I can’t seem to over ride this. Please I’m desperate.
Update!!!
Get the newest FrostWire at http://www.frostwire.com/downloads and it’ll be gone.
I am not very happy with the new Frostwire update… 5.2.9,
It has given me more problems than I have ever had with past Frostwire downloads… I wish the old versions were available. Or fix the download section… not to mention, it’ll say it’s downloading and when it’s finished…it’s no where in my computer… um can you say help?
