Happy Sunday! This week has been very important because significant leaders like Mark Zuckerberg and Pope Francis spoke at the United Nations. And also, today we are releasing a new FrostWire (6.1.5) for Windows, Mac and Linux.

This update makes FrostWire faster and leaner in memory usage, here’s how.

We fixed Kat Search, Bitsnoop Search, and EZTV search, so now you won’t have any issues when you search. Also, we replaced our HTTP networking engine and FrostWire is now more efficient and reliable than ever when it comes to web connectivity, this means faster and more reliable search results, faster media result previews, faster YouTube, SoundCloud and Archive.org downloads and all of this with less resources from your computer.

We also updated our Java runtime to the latest version (1.8.0 build 60), and removed Radio functionality which had been hard to maintain, not used by many people and not that great as we couldn’t keep up with the station url churn.

If you want to enjoy online radio we recommend you just open your web browser and head to shoutcast.com.

German Expressionist Films were one of the greatest achievements in early cinema history, and now you can watch them for free because these movies are public domain. Expressionist films challenge our habitual perception of reality.

“The style was revolutionary, taking film from being an art that displays reality to an art that brings the viewer physical representations of emotion and theme. Taking from the Expressionist art movement, the German filmmakers began to create sets that were an embodiment of the inner feelings of the characters performing within them. By taking elements of reality-based design and altering them to suit a mood, the audience can visually identify the underlying feelings of the action taking place. Beyond simply this, German Expressionist film took two major steps forward in production ideology. One was the use of a studio for all aspects of shooting – there could only be the necessary absolute control if all sets and action took place in a studio. The other was the pure idea of giving an audience what it wanted, beyond the conventional (for the time) film structure and design. Not surprisingly, while German Expressionist films were quite successful in terms of box office they were not always well received by critics at the time” (Source).

A New FrostWire for Android is Ready for Download!

This new release has a lot of fixes (EZTV, BtJunkie search, torrents issues, crash on audio player), also we upgraded Picasso library for image caching and did a significant update to the jlibtorrent library that improves memory handling and avoids a DDoS attack on the network.

The update is currently being rolled out in stages to a small percentage of users on Google Play so that we can fix any newly introduced bug without impacting the majority of users.

If you feel like you can handle it you can download the installers of build 202 and SourceCode on GitHub for both FrostWire Plus and FrostWire Basic on github.com

  • Banking information, which could even put you at the risk of being kidnapped in many countries.

In addition, your connection is secured when using public Wi-Fi spots, which is especially important if you use online banking of sensitive information transfer during that time.. Most of all, your connection is always encrypted and secured so your personal information, including your IP address, is never revealed.

FrostWire, both for Android and for Desktop, works seamlessly with most VPN services. This means that however you connect to the internet – with or without the VPN – FrostWire will still search and download without any adjustment in settings on your part.

The new FrostWire for Desktop release is available for download. On this release we updated the libtorrent/jlibtorrent and made updates to that fixed recent issues with YouTube search.

We fixes a lot of issues like the some torrent settings not being applied correctly, the TorLock search and the YouTube search. So now you will not have any problems searching for content on FrostWire.

Also, the search source processing is faster, because we did a totally new search engine.
