We’re happy to announce a new version of FrostWire Plus for Android. This release includes a lot of important fixes. If you have been having problems getting results from YouTube, you must download FrostWire Plus 1.8.4 right now! Also, we fixed some bugs, now you are not going to get any errors with transfers larger than 6Gb.

Good news! On the next FrostWire for Android release, a huge update is coming.

Now we won’t show the same YouTube search result for each download quality available on the main search results. We’ll just show you the video title, and when you click on it you will be able to pick which format and download size you want it depending on your needs and network conditions.

We’re Officially Dropping Support for Windows XP

Today we’re officially dropping support for Windows XP.

The number of issues that arise as technology moves forward which are no longer addressed by Microsoft, who already dropped support for Windows XP 5 years ago, along with a very small XP user base (our estimates are less than 5%) are the reasons going forward with this decision.

FrostWire will still be working on Windows XP, but we’re focusing on the other versions of that OS.

For now we’ll be focused on supporting and fixing all issues arising in the following operating systems:

Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10.
Mac OSX 10.7 (Lion) or later (64-bit)
Linux Ubuntu (.deb based distributions) and Red Hat descendants.
Android +4.0.3.

How to install FrostWire Plus?

Introducing 1-click-seeding for Windows, Mac, Linux

Download FrostWire Plus 6.1.8 now

Today you can download the new FrostWire for Desktop (6.1.8.) release! This update a powerful new feature to help decentralize content without censorship with a simple click on every finished transfer.

Share and Seed any finished transfer in one click!

FrostWire has always allowed you to share or seed if you were a curious user, these actions were available for finished .torrent transfers, but now, they’re available to any finished transfer even if it came from a cloud service.

The seeding status icon is also a button you can use to start or stop seeding any transfer, no need to know about how to create a .torrent anymore, you just click and you’re seeding.

If you want to share a transfer, or a big file from your computer with a friend, family member or co-worker, you can use the Share button on the actions column. FrostWire will make sure your transfer is a torrent (it will create one for you if it wasn’t a torrent download) and then it will provide you with means to share it through any channel, be it a tweet, a text message, email or other.

Try FrostWire 6.1.6 before it comes out to the main public.

You can download the Windows installer, the Mac installer, or the source code.

Remember that a Release Candidate means that is almost done, but we want to test it a lot first. So if you want to help us, you can test it today!

FrostWire 6.15 brings back 32bit compatibility to Linux

The new FrostWire 6.1.5 installer for Linux is a universal architecture binary.

The installer is now a bit bigger since we include 2 copies of our C++ native libraries, one for 32bit another one for 64bit intel cpus.

FrostWire will automatically pick up your architecture and use the right DLL.

We highly recommend you run the latest version of Oracle’s Java Runtime 1.8, preferrably the one for your CPU.

New icon for App search results on FrostWire for Android

We noticed a lot of people thought the previous icon meant “Setting results” which didn’t make much sense.
Now You will be able to see this new icon on the search page, and my file screen on our next Android release.
